Hollywood Stuntman and Actor
Author: Hyperfly HQ
Athlete Focus: Jeremy Marinas
If you’ve seen the blockbuster hits Captain America, Wolverine, or John Wick, then chances are you’ve seen Jeremy Marinas. A lifelong martial artist, Jeremy was able to make a successful transition into stunts and acting, becoming a sought after fight coordinator and performer at the prestigious 87 Eleven Action Design studio.
He has now appeared in dozens of Hollywood’s most successful action flicks (his IMDB page will make your head spin!) and has been a longtime supporter of Hyperfly.
Jeremy was kind enough to share some insight into his journey and what it’s like working with the biggest names in Hollywood.
How did you get into martial arts?
Like every other late 80’s early 90’s baby, I really got mesmerized watching Ninja Turtles and Bruce Lee. My father saw my passion at the young age of 4 and decided to sign me up for karate lessons after witnessing me teach myself a tornado kick and spin hook kick. (Laughs)
How did you transition into stunts and Hollywood movies?
My life long idol, Jon Valera, from the NASKA sport martial arts circuit recruited me into our team at 87Eleven Action Design. He saw me fight opposite of a friend, in my friend’s audition tape. It wasn’t even my audition! (Laughs again)
What big names have you had the fortune to work with?
I’ve been lucky to work with so many big names, but some of my favourites are Keanu Reeves, Jason Mamoa, Jason Statham, and of course Donnie Yen and Tony Jaa.
Do you have a most memorable moment on set?
Probably the most memorable time on set for me was sharing the set of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with my best friends growing up and each of us doubled for the turtles. I did stunts for Mikey!

What qualities were the most important to your success?
The most important qualities to my success I would say are mental awareness and the sheer will to never give up. That’s it. Nothing special.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years from now?
In 10 years I hope to be directing a lot more in tv and film.
We know you train hard and eat clean to stay in “movie shape,” but what’s your favourite cheat meal?
Pasta and steak. Together. Either carbonara or lasagna, but always medium-rare rib-eye for the steak. Mmm
