Blue Belt under Professor Paulo Polimeno & Head Coach Felipe Balladi - FLOW Martial Arts
I’m a former professional surfer, Husband, Father and BJJ frother!
Growing up in a tough environment losing my mother to suicide then my left eye in an accident only made me more determined to not let anything stand in my way.
Over the years I had done several drop-ins with friends at various BJJ schools in Australia and Indonesia, loving the sport but competing with surfing never being able to commit fully I kept it in my back pocket that BJJ would find me when the time was right.
Moving to South Australia for the year was the push I needed as I had decided to put surfing competitively on hold.
I went to a class at Victor Harbour BJJ, a small Machado school at the time having 15 or so students on the mats, it’s there I completely fell in love with Jiu-Jitsu trading surfing all day to training as much as my body would possibly allow. After about a year of training, I entered my first competition grabbing a bronze in the AGC Adelaide No-Gi division. Being so new to the sport and enjoying the competition so much got me more excited to train hard and continue to improve.
Fast forward another year and I’ve relocated to Queensland’s Gold Coast training harder than ever at Flow Martial Arts in Coolangatta. Recently competed at the QBC and bagged another bronze medal competing for the first time with the Flow team. I’m looking to enter as many events as I can in 2022 to push myself physically, mentally, and continue to strive to be the best example to my son I can possibly be, I want him to know his Dad never gave up no matter what the obstacle in front of him.
Hyperfly was the first Gi I ever put on and now to represent them as an athlete is a huge honour for me, not only is Hyperfly Australia the best gear around but they truly care about the art of Jiu-Jitsu. I couldn’t be more proud to be a part of the team.
